The new Kia EV3 debuts as the smallest all-electric Kia offering based on the e-GMP platform. It combines the bold design language of the EV9 in a form factor comparable to the size of a hatchback.
The Baby EV9
Despite packing a small form factor, the EV3 perfectly portrays itself as a baby EV9 — thanks to its dynamic silhouette. Apart from the body panels and lighting design inspired by the EV9, the forward placement of the front windscreen and an elongated rear section falls in line with the side profile of the EV9 as well. However, since Kia showcased the EV3 as a concept, certain design cues like the radically designed alloy wheels and prominent body cladding could see a revision upon stepping into production.
Spacious And Modular Interior
Like its exterior, the interior of the EV3 also falls in line with the bigger EV9. The smooth surfaces keep the dashboard design ultra-clean and the EV skateboard platform ensures ample passenger space. In addition, the EV3 also incorporates a large space that can be accessed by folding the rear seat and storing items as big as an electric scooter or bicycle.
Brimmed With Tech
Since the EV3 falls under the umbrella of the latest e-GMP vehicles from the house of Kia, it is safe to assume that it will come brimming with features. Not only will it feature the twin-connected screen setup that we have seen in nearly all the newer Kia models, it will also offer vehicle-to-load (V2L) charging to power the equipment you carry in your EV3, including an electric bike.
We await Kia to reveal the technical specifications of the EV3. It could feature a 400V architecture, which is suitable for its compact size. A single-motor setup is most likely to be the standard powertrain option with the EV3 though we wouldn’t jump off of our seats if Kia also adds a twin-motor setup to spice up its smallest EV model.
