The Defender is one of Land Rover’s best selling models, and the British SUV-maker has launched the MY24 Defender with a few updates. Unlike other model year updates that bring some cosmetic updates, the Defender relies on more power, more comfort and more options for the customers.
Starting with the diesel engine, the Defender’s D300 diesel engine has now been replaced with a more-powerful D350 diesel engine. While the engine continues to be a 3.0L straight-six diesel, it now produces 350PS of power and 700Nm of torque over the older engine’s 300PS and 650Nm output. The increased output of 50PS and 50Nm would enhance the towing capacity of the Defender while giving it more poke than before. The new D350 engine is available across the lineup, which includes the 90, 110 and 130.
Coming to the new Sedona Edition, the special edition is currently only available with the 110 body style. The Sedona Edition takes its body paint inspiration from Sedona, Arizona. In flesh, it comes across as a dark maroon colour. Its exterior colour is complemented by an black pack, which brings gloss black touches to the front, rear bumpers and wheel arches. Also part of the package is the 22-inch gloss black alloy wheels and gloss black spare wheel cover.
Since the Sedona Edition is based on the Defender’s X-Dynamic HSE trim, it offers the option of Ebony Windsor Leather and Kvadrat seats, which are offered for the first time in the 110 series. Furthermore, the seats of the Defender Sedona Edition are part of the new Signature Interior pack, which offer new materials, and more attention to detail.
Lastly, the updated Defender 130, which is the biggest Defender in size, is now available with the option of captain chairs in the second row. The new captain chairs offer superior comfort, thanks to individual armrests with angle adjustment and optional winged headrests. The aisle between the seats provide an easy access to the third row passengers. In addition, the 2024 Land Rover Defender brings a host of exterior and interior packages, promising to offer a higher level of customisation as per customer’s use cases.
