Jeep has officially declared its foray into the electric vehicle (EV) market with the unveiling of the Wagoneer S, slated for a fall 2024 release in the United States. This marks a significant milestone for the renowned SUV brand, showcasing its commitment to entering the world of electric mobility.
In a carefully orchestrated reveal, Jeep shared a tantalising teaser video and a lone image of the Wagoneer S, accompanied by some noteworthy performance statistics. Boasting an impressive 600PS output and an acceleration from 0 to 100kmph in approximately 3.5 seconds.
The Wagoneer S distinguishes itself as an exclusive battery-electric vehicle, equipped with Jeep’s 4xe-branded all-wheel drive and the brand’s renowned all-terrain management system. While specific details regarding battery size, available trims, motor technology, and pricing remain undisclosed, enthusiasts can anticipate a gradual unveiling of these key features as the anticipated on-sale date approaches.
Jeep emphasises that the Wagoneer S’s design is intricately shaped keeping aerodynamic efficiency in mind. The teaser photo showcases a head-on view, revealing a sleeker, less boxy silhouette compared to traditional Jeep models. Noteworthy elements include blade-like side inlets flanking the lower bumper, reminiscent of features found on other upcoming U.S-based electric SUVs, such as the Lucid Gravity. The signature seven-slot grille is illuminated with LEDs, and a solid LED light bar is anticipated at the rear, based on glimpses from the teaser video.
This groundbreaking SUV is just the opening act in Jeep’s electric vehicle strategy, with plans for a smaller EV, the Recon, expected to enter production later in the year.
