BorgWarner Inc. has announced the promotion of Joseph Fadool, the current Vice President of the company and President and GM of Emissions, Thermal, and Turbo Systems, to the role of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, effective July 1, 2024. In his new position, Fadool will oversee the operations of the company, with the business unit presidents reporting directly to him. He will report to Frédéric Lissalde, President, and Chief Executive Officer of BorgWarner Inc.
Lissalde stated that he had confidence in the capability of Fadool to deliver on his mandate since he has vast experience within the organisation and his contributions to the development and commercialisation of BorgWarner technologies. In the five years that Fadool has been leading the Emissions, Thermal, and Turbo Systems business unit, significant growth has been achieved, with good business performance in addition to improved business contacts with major world-wide Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). Lissalde is confident about increasing his interaction with Fadool in order to achieve better results in coping with customers and shareholders.
Speaking with appreciation regarding the opportunity, Fadool also highlighted BorgWarner’s mission of overhauling mobility solutions around the world. He also emphasised that the company has the ability to create sustainable value for investors through the innovative product leadership model and to accommodate customers to future portfolios. Fadool also manifested interest in working with Lissalde and the BorgWarner team during this dynamic period of the firm.
In line with these developments, BorgWarner announced new business unit structure intended to facilitate the execution of the Charging Forward strategy. Effective July 1, 2024, the company will reorganise its business units as follows:
- Emissions, Thermal, and Turbo Systems, where Volker Weng will be the leader.
- Morse Group and Drivetrain Systems, to be managed by Isabelle McKenzie
- PowerDrive Systems, to be headed by Stefan Demmerle
- Battery and Charging Systems to be spearheaded by Henk Vanthournout
In stressing the need to align organisational structure to the business unit level, Lissalde also pointed out that better organisational design for the firm might lead to better operational integration and enhanced measures on cross business unit cost savings. BorgWarner will revise the current organisation of financial reporting segments, which will be configured in response to the new business unit plan starting from July 1, 2024.
