The new BMW R1300 GS hits the market with the most powerful boxer engine BMW has ever produced, in a form factor that is lighter than the model it replaces.

BMW claims that the new R1300 GS is based on ‘almost’ a complete redesign, which has helped to rethink the idea of an adventure tourer. The new GS is more capable than before while reducing the complexities and weight around its functionality. It now weighs 237kg, which is a reduction of 12kg over the outgoing GS.
The new design features ample changes, including a redesigned front fascia with an X-shaped LED headlight and sleeker body panels to give it a chiselled and refreshing look.
More-Powerful Boxer Engine
At the heart of the R1300 GS is a new two-cylinder boxer engine, which is the most powerful boxer engine ever produced by BMW. A clever placement of the gearbox — which now sits below the engine — has enabled BMW to make the design of the engine more compact. But don’t discount its compact dimensions for lack of grunt since it produces a healthy 145hp of power and 145 Nm of torque.
New Adjustable Suspension And Electronics
The new electronic Dynamic Suspension Adjustment (DSA) offers better functionality than the outgoing model. In addition to the spring rate adjustment for the front and rear suspension, the new system also offers an option ride hide adjustment, enabling you to decide the best comfort level befitting the terrain you are on.
The new GS also offers an updated suite of rider assistance, which includes features like active cruise control, front collision warning and lane change warning. It also offers a myriad of new standard features over the outgoing model that include heated grips, keyless operation, cruise control with braking, ABS Pro and hand protectors.
