With a starting price that dips below GBP 15,000, the Spring positions itself as a genuinely attainable electric vehicle for a wider range of consumers. Dacia even offers financing options starting at GBP 169 per month, making it an attractive alternative to pricier electric cars like the Nissan Leaf and Vauxhall Corsa.
Available in two trims, both variants come equipped with a 26.8kWh battery that offers a claimed range of 220 km. Dacia suggests that under ideal city driving conditions, this figure can be stretched to 300 km. The base “Expression” trim features a 45PS electric motor, accelerating from 0-62mph in 19 seconds. Standard features include a touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, electric windows in the front, and rear parking sensors.
Upgrading to the more powerful 64PS motor brings the price tag to GBP 15,995 and reduces the 0-62mph time to 13.7 seconds. This variant also gets larger 15-inch wheels. For those seeking the top-of-the-line experience, the range-topping “Extreme” trim adds a touch of sophistication with copper-colored accents, electric rear windows, a larger 10-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone connectivity, and a special feature – a bi-directional charger that allows the Spring to power external devices.
Practicality is another strong point for the Spring. With 308 liters of boot space, it boasts significantly more cargo capacity than rivals like the Volkswagen Up! and Toyota Yaris. Folding the rear seats expands the space to a cavernous 1004 liters.
Charging the Spring is convenient with a 7kW home charger that can replenish the battery from 20% to 100% in four hours. Additionally, the car supports fast charging speeds of up to 48kW. The Dacia Spring’s arrival in the UK market signifies a significant shift towards more affordable electric cars.
