British design and engineering firm Callum will reveal its first-ever fully in-house developed vehicle, Skye, to the public for the first time at the Concours on Savile Row, London, from 22nd-23rd May 2024. The high-performance, all-wheel-drive, multi-terrain electric vehicle was announced in November 2023 and its first running prototype will be displayed outside Edward Sexton’s store throughout the free-to-attend event. For now, Callum has teased the prototype by releasing a few design renders that also showcase its 2+2 interior.
Skye is powered by a 42kWh battery that will offer a predicted driving range of about 274km. There is also an option to specify an ultra-fast charging battery for a full charge within ten minutes. Measuring 4,047mm in length and 1,900mm in width, and weighing just 1,150kg, Skye boasts sports car-level performance, with 0-96.5km/h achieved in less than four seconds. It’s been designed to show its prowess both on- and off-road.
Inside, a sleek, pillar-like centre console bridge featuring tactile, rotary touchscreen dials offers a convenient way to operate the HVAC controls and other key features. The dashboard design also focuses on functionality, and the infotainment system will come with user-centric features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The front sports seats set the tone for the Skye. However, elements like the removable rear bench seat represent Skye’s functionality-first approach.
Explaining the concept of Skye’s interior, Ian Callum, Design Director of Callum, said, “To maximise the room, it’s essential to keep the interior forms simple. The interior design intention is incredibly disciplined; we’ve edited our vision to only include necessary elements, giving the driver and passengers everything they need while avoiding wasted space.”
Order books for the Callum Skye are now open, with prices starting between £80,000-110,000. The company has confirmed multiple variants, including on- and off-road focussed models. Details and specifications of different derivatives will be confirmed later in the year.
According to Adam Donfrancesco, Engineering Director at Callum, the company aims to put the “Callum Skye into exclusive low volume production.” So, expect the Skye to be a much sought-after collector’s item.
