From Track To Road: Valvoline Global And Mahindra Racing Push E-Mobility Limits At London E-Prix

At this weekend’s London E-Prix, the season finale of the Formula E World Championship, Valvoline™ Global Operations, the original motor oil brand and a global provider of automotive and industrial solutions, is highlighting its 160-year legacy of innovation through its role as Official Partner of Mahindra Racing.

“Being the original motor oil means you must evolve,” said Michael Kirtman, Chief Brand Officer, Valvoline Global Operations. He said the company’s long history of adapting alongside changing vehicle technologies makes Formula E an ideal environment to develop and test future mobility solutions. Through its collaboration with Mahindra Racing, Valvoline Global is collecting track data under demanding thermal, mechanical and high-voltage conditions to support the development of next-generation technologies for road vehicles.

Frédéric Bertrand, Team Principal & CEO of Mahindra Racing, said Valvoline Global’s fluid-engineering expertise plays an important role in the team’s performance and reliability efforts. He added that the partnership has contributed to the team’s broader progress during the season, including its results in Monaco and Tokyo.

Sandeep Kalia, Managing Director, Valvoline Cummins Pvt. Ltd., said the partnership combines global motorsport technology with Valvoline’s local business and engineering capabilities in India. Insights gained from race-developed fluids are being adapted for Indian vehicle applications, creating value for vehicle manufacturers and consumers while supporting innovation and growth in India and international markets.

The Track-to-Road Advantage

As an Official Partner of Mahindra Racing, Valvoline Global works closely with the team’s engineers to develop and test specialised e-fluids aimed at improving drivetrain efficiency, durability and reliability.

Following laboratory and on-track validation, the collaborative transmission fluid has been used in Mahindra Racing’s Formula E cars since May 2026. Data gathered from the racing programme is being fed into Valvoline’s commercial product development process, creating a continuous feedback loop that can help optimise fluids for mass-production electric vehicles.

This approach allows selected technologies and insights developed under racing conditions to be adapted for everyday EV applications, with the goal of improving reliability and performance for consumers.

Diversified R&D And 160 Years Of Innovation

Since 1866, Valvoline has evolved alongside the automotive industry and contributed to developments across the lubricants sector. Its research and development activities now cover internal combustion engines, hybrid powertrains and fully electric vehicles, supported by more than two decades of dedicated EV research.

The company is developing technologies in areas such as low-surface-tension fluids and advanced battery cooling systems to address challenges including battery safety and range reduction during fast charging.

Valvoline Global’s current e-mobility portfolio includes solutions for thermal management and drivetrain systems, supporting the transition to electric mobility while maintaining a focus on performance, reliability and protection.

Global Reach With A Strong Indian Connection

Valvoline Global operates in more than 140 countries and is working with Mahindra, one of India’s leading vehicle manufacturers, to showcase Indian automotive technology on the global Formula E stage.

The company also maintains a strong focus on the Indian market, providing lubricant technologies for internal combustion engines as well as electric mobility applications tailored to Mahindra’s evolving vehicle portfolio.

The London E-Prix activation brings together trade partners from across the world while highlighting India’s importance to Valvoline Global’s growth strategy. The event also coincides with India’s Independence Day celebrations, offering an opportunity to highlight Indian automotive capabilities and international technology collaboration.
